vivienne westwood is widely well known as queen of punk, and godmother of fashion in england. she was important role in birth of punk culture 1970’s,

since the 1980s, as a fashion desginer, she has built on her carrer, and expressed london’s tradition, culture, and sexuality at the same time. meaning of fashion design for vivienne doesn’t satisfy to meet the needs of her customers.

she has broken down conservative social conventions, and explored potential of fashion as proposals for future. the passion for antiauthoritarianism has been vivienne’s unique works driving force.

Malcolm McLaren is important for vivienne.  she met Malcolm McLaren in 1965. she  had antiauthoritarianism attitude, and learned power of fashion through him. they opened  a boutique called “Let It Rock” (later known variously as “Sex”, “Too Fast To Live Too Young To Die”, and “Seditionaries”) and now Worlds Ends, where Westwood sells her Vivienne Westwood label clothing.Westwood created clothes

She dubbed the period 1981 to 1985 “New romantice” and 1988–1991 as “The Pagan Years” during which “Vivienne’s heroes changed from punks and ragamuffins to ‘Tatler’ girls wearing clothes that parodied the upper class.”

In 1992, Westwood was awarded an OBE.Westwood advanced from OBE to DBE in the 2006 New Year’s Honours List for services to fashion,[25] and has thrice earned the award for British Designer of the Year.

ALEXANDER WANG

alexander wang is especially loved by celebrities, and models. his design is well known for  unique style with basic items, his edgy, somewhat masculine womenswear design. he was born 1983 in san francisco. At age 18, he moved to New York City to attend Parsons The New School for Design to study fashion design. After dropping out in his sophomore year, he launched his first women’s ready-to-wear collection in 2007. Wang launched ,T by Alexander wang, a diffusion line of pre-weathered cotton tees, tanks, and T-shirt dresses in spring 2009. He won the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund in 2008, an honor accompanied by a $200,000 award to expand one’s business. His lines are now stocked globally by more than 30 of the world’s premiere retailers.

CHRISTIAN DIOR

Christian Dior was a French fashion designer, best known as the founder of   Christian Dior. 1946 Dior founded his fashion house, backed by Marcel Boussac

On 12 February 1947, Dior launched his first fashion collection for Spring-Summer 1947.  Originally, the two lines were named as “Corolle” and “Huit” (which included the new “Bar suit” silhouette). However, the new collection went down in fashion history as the “New Look”

The silhouette was characterised by a small, nipped-in waist and full skirt falling below mid-calf length, which emphasised the bust and hips. New Look   extremely popular, its full-skirted silhouette influencing fashion and other designers well into the 1950s.

Expansion from France began by the end of 1949 with the opening of a Christian Dior boutique in New York City. new look was succesful in usa.

dior’s design was succesful  because he could anticipate what women want to wear in that period.

he is first person who started couture license business.

DOLCE AND GABBANA

 

The company was started by Italian designers Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana. they showed sensual, fancy fashion world with italy’s adventurous, corageous in 1985.

they created glamorous and sexual style for women.Originally inspired by eclectic, thrift shop Bohemia, Dolce & Gabbana’s deeply colored, animal prints have been described as “haute hippy dom” taking inspiration in particular from Italy’s prestigious film history. in 1993. madonna ordered 1500 garments for her world show. she said ‘her favorite shirts are D&G’. it made them to be world designers. after madonna, celebrities picked D&G for their customs, so D&G called ‘stars look like stars’ brand. D&G’s secret is that if ordinary woman wear their clothes, they could be like celebrities.
